David Blanco, president of Blanco Cigar Co., has named Robbie Streitz the company’s new director of sales. Streitz will oversee the day-to-day sales activities as well as marketing and business development for Blanco Cigars from the company’s office in Clearwater, Fla.

Prior to joining Blanco Cigar Co., Streitz created The Hampton Bay Cigar Club in 2003, and in late 2008 he created, wrote, produced and co-hosted the CigaRobbie Radio Show out of WTAN 1340 A.M., a show whose audience spanned six southeastern states.

In June 2012, Streitz was named national sales manager of Esteban Carreras, where he was involved in the success of the company’s most notable cigar, Chupacabra. He left in mid-2014 for A.J. Fernandez Cigars and served as national sales manager and brand manager for the New World cigar.

In a press release, Streitz described his new position with Blanco Cigar Co. as a more creative and visionary role than he has been in before, meshing both brand building and sales for a boutique cigar company.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
