Three years ago today, halfwheel.com went live.

A lot has changed since then, but there are a few traditions we’d like to keep alive. One of them is internally-known as “holy grail week.”

When we launched the site back on Jan. 1, 2012, we kicked it off with a week full of reviews of ridiculous cigars. While we try to review rare and sought after releases throughout the year, we also make a point of trying to kick off each year with a week full of special cigars. This year is perhaps not as flashy as in some year’s past, but there a unicorn or two and a few historically significant cigars, the first of which you’ll get to read about today.

This past year was in some ways a trying one, but we also achieved a lot. We set a goal of 1,900 posts for the year and we just barely achieved it. None of that would have happened without the support we get from our readership. Our goal from day one has always been to create the cigar blog we would want to read, we will definitely try to put out the best version of that in 2015.

I am an editor and co-founder of halfwheel.com/Rueda Media, LLC. I previously co-founded and published TheCigarFeed, one of the two predecessors of halfwheel. I have written about the cigar industry for more than a decade, covering everything from product launches to regulation to M&A. In addition, I handle a lot of the behind-the-scenes stuff here at halfwheel. I enjoy playing tennis, watching boxing, falling asleep to the Le Mans 24, wearing sweatshirts year-round and eating gyros. echte liebe.
