Altadis USA has confirmed to halfwheel that the latest addition to the storied Romeo y Julieta line will begin leaving its warehouse today and should be on retailers’ shelves in the coming week.
The new line was one of the featured releases in the Altadis booth at the 2014 IPCPR Convention and Trade Show last month in Las Vegas. It’s a Honduran-made cigar that uses select vintage 2010 Indonesian shade leaves for the wrapper with an aged Dominican piloto binder and aged Dominican & Olor filler.
There are five sizes being released at the product’s launch, the 5 1/2 x 44 Dos ($6.15) , 5 x 50 Bully ($6.25), 6 x 50 Tres ($6.50), 7 x 50 Churchill ($7.25) and 6 x 60 Gordo ($7), all in 15-count boxes. The line is a brick-and-mortar exclusive and it will be interesting to see how it is received in retail humidors given its name. 1875 is used in a number of the brand’s other lines and is prominently featured on pretty much every band, so this cigar might need a bit of help distinguishing itself from several other of the brand’s existing lines.
