There has long been speculation that Texas would eventually be home to one of the two large cigar retailers of the country. It was either going to be Imperial Tobacco/Altadis U.S.A. through its JR Cigar brand or Scandinavian Tobacco Group/General Cigar through Cigars International.

Turns out it will be the former, but not under the JR Cigar name.

Instead it will be under the Casa de Montecristo name, with the company moving into a space at 3878 Oak Lawn Ave. located in between North Dallas and the higher-end Highland Park neighborhood.

A phone call to the company was not immediately returned, however, a message on its Facebook page indicated it planned on opening by June.

The store will be 4,300-square-feet including a vintage room and both a public and private lounge according to a press release.

Earlier this month, the company announced that it would rebrand the Cigar Inn stores in Manhattan as Casa de Montecristos. Some Casa de Montecristo stores are owned by Imperial Tobacco Group, while others are franchise locations.

The Dallas location joins the aforementioned New York City stores as well as locations in Miami, Boynton Beach, Fla. and Countryside, Ill.
