The Aging Room line from Boutique Blends will be expanding at this year’s IPCPR Convention and Trade Show, as the company has announced the Aging Room Bin No. 1.

The new line is rooted in aged tobacco from Jose “Jochy” Blanco at Tabacalera Palma, the factory that produces Boutique Blends’ lines. The tobacco has been on reserve since Blanco’s early days of growing Cuban seed tobacco in the Cibao Valley of the Dominican Republic, and in the case of the Aging Room Bin No. 1, dates back to 1999 and 2001 and is used for the filler and binder. The wrapper is an Ecuadorian Habano leaf.

There will be three sizes released at this year’s trade show, a 6 1/8 x 52 known as B Minor, 5 1/4 x 54 called C Major and a 6 1/4 x 63 dubbed G Major. The names continue Aging Room’s trend of using musical terms for vitola names.

Details of the Aging Room Bin No. 1 were first reported in the May 6 edition of Cigar Insider; the cigar was first mentioned in October on TheCigarAuthority.com.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for MLB.com, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
