Review: Casa Fernandez Lancero
Say what? Another Raíces Cubanas Lancero. It’s the final one that will be featured as part of Lancero50, and perhaps the champion of the overlooked banner. While I’ve had my fair share of AGANORSA leaf, most of it has not been in the form of Casa Fernandez. Raíces is better known for its long list [...]
Review: Graycliff Double Espresso Elegante
Say what? There’s another Double Espresso? Long before I got word that Toraño would be taking over Graycliff’s distribution, the Double Espresso Elegante was on the top of the list to reviews. I had been handed one by Brooks when I told him about the Lancero50 project (it was still known by its better form “Lancero [...]
Review: Padilla Miami Lancero
I guess it’s Raíces Cubanas weekend. Generally, that will result in a fairly good few days, given the former Tropical outfit is responsible for some of the best cigars on the market. Raíces Cubanas is where Ernesto Padilla now produces (some of) his product, alongside others like Dion Giolito’s Illusione, Alan Rubin’s Alec Bradley, Andre [...]
Weekly News (January 24, 2011)
On Tuesday, we broke the news regarding the discontinuation of the AVO 787. La Sirena, Miami Cigar & Co.’s newest release, is in Miami at the warehouse, should be at retailers in a few days. In other news from Miami Cigar & Co., the La Aurora Corojo will be released at the 2011 IPCPR show. For anyone that was at the show this past year, you’ll know it was one of the cigars featured at the booth, however packaging and branding concerns led to a decision to relaunch and release the cigar in July. It will feature new packaging and banding, but the cigar itself will be the same. La Aurora also announced that the 1495 BME Sumo Short Robusto will be making it’s U.S. debut. The NUb-style cigar has been in the European markets since early fall, and Miami Cigar & Co. has now decided to bring the cigar to the U.S. market. It’s 4 x 58 and should be available in a few packaging options, including boxes of five. In other large ring gauge news, the Cain F NUb is also shipping this week, the post from when we originally broke the story now has price points for the two sizes. In other Oliva/Studio Tobac news, rumor has it the Studio Tobac tour will start on el niño diablo’s birthday.
Review: Coronado Maduro Corona Especial
For those of you that don’t know… I recently found out that La Flor Dominicana had released a VERY limited number of the Coronado by La Flor with a Maduro wrapper as an experiment of sorts, and by VERY limited, I mean 83 boxes. I am a huge fan of the original Coronado, and it [...]
