Viaje WLP Fifty | Fifty 1.png

Because of the delays with the Viaje V.O.R. DT and V.P.R. DT, which are currently scheduled for a mid-June release, Andre Farkas decided that he would move up the scheduled release of his final planned WLP (White Label Project), which was originally scheduled for later this year. For those wondering, the Exclusivo Chiquito, a release that is given to two retailers every two years, has shipped. Cigar-ette City in Delaware has forty-nine boxes (but does not ship) and Mark at Tower Cigars in Sacramento has already sold out of his allotment, which should be in the capital city next week.

Updated (May 28, 2011): Pic & name from Farkas’ Facebook.

Update II (May 28, 2011): Shipping next week, i.e. first week of June.

Update III (June 2, 2011): Second picture added, sounds like this might be week two of June.

Update IV (June 2, 2011): MSRP added.

Viaje WLP Fifty | Fifty 2.png

  • Name: Viaje WLP Fifty Fifty Red
  • Size: 6 x 48
  • Vitola: Toroish
  • Wrapper: Nicaragua Criollo
  • Binder: Nicaragua
  • Filler: Nicaragua Country: Honduras (Raíces Cubanas)
  • MSRP: $9.75 (Bundles of 25, $243.75)
  • Release Date: June 2011
  • Production Number: 5,000 Cigars (200 Bundles of 25 Cigars)

Viaje has said that this blend is to be based on the Fifty | Fifty Red, a personal favorite of mine. This will use a Criollo wrapper that was originally intended to go on the Fifty | Fifty Red. However, in an effort to make it easier to distinguish between the Fifty | Fifty Black and Fifty | Fifty Red, Viaje chose to go with a Corojo wrapper. Presumably, this should create a stronger version of the Fifty | Fifty Red. (For those wondering, Andre Farkas has previously stated that September is the scheduled release of both the Fifty | Fifty Red and Fifty | Fifty Black.)

The cigar will be a 6 x 48 with a “flagged cap” and “unfinished foot.” (This size is not represented amongst any of the current three sizes of the Fifty | Fifty.) The expected release is “soon”, which should translate into the next week or so from what I’ve heard. — el niño diablo.
