This month, two Viaje lines that haven’t been offered for quite some time will return to shelves.
The Viaje Cache, which debuted in 2014 and was last released in 2018, will ship to stores later this month. Previous releases of Cache were packaged in a very unique way. For both the 2014 and 2018 releases, each box of Cache came with 25 cigars, 20 of which were round while the other five were box-pressed. In keeping with the name of the cigar, those box-pressed cigars were stored in a separate compartment at the bottom of each box. A post on Viaje’s social media seems to confirm that concept will continue, saying that, “As always, a secret cache of 5 cigars awaits you in every box.”
When asked about other details about this release, a Viaje spokesperson declined to answer most questions, including those about the vitola, blend and pricing. Previous versions of Cache used a Mexican San Andrés wrapper over a Nicaraguan binder and Nicaraguan fillers, with production handled at Aganorsa’s factory in Estelí.
Cache will ship alongside the Viaje Furiosa Fury (5 x 52), one of two new Furiosa sizes announced for this summer. This appears to be the second time that Furiosa has been released. It debuted in 2016 in a single 5 3/4 x 52 toro size that was produced at Raíces Cubanas using Nicaraguan tobaccos. That cigar featured a nipple-style cap and was packaged in boxes of 51 cigars.
It’s unclear whether those details will remain the same for the two new sizes of Furiosa. In social media posts, Viaje says that the Fury size will ship in June, while the Furiosa Imperator (6 x 50) has been scheduled to ship in July.
