It’s incredible to see Davidoff still finding a way to innovate with its annual Year of the/Zodiac Series limited edition. As has been the case since the start, the company released the next year’s cigar in the prior November, meaning in 2016 we got to see the Year of the Rooster. As with every packaging awards list, there’s always a group of cigars that look better in pictures and those that really shine in person. The Year of the Rooster is the latter.

It’s nearly impossible to photograph all the subtle details, particularly the texture applied to the box which look like feathered wings. As always, the box is a combination of red and natural woods and this year’s doesn’t disappoint. One big change this yea his the segmented presentation of the cigar, with the box of eight divided into four pairs of cigars.
